A-Z Glossary

colleges

When referring to a California Community College, always use the proper full name on first reference.

For a list of colleges within the system, see the Chancellor’s Office website at www.cccco.edu > Community Colleges > Community College Listings.

If a college name is officially “College of [blank],” do not transpose to “[blank] College.” Do not omit “community” or “city” if a college’s official name is “[blank] Community College” or “[blank] City College.” Do not capitalize “college” when the word stands alone. If it is necessary to abbreviate a long college name on subsequent reference, see the college’s website for preferred abbreviations.
