Abbreviations, Directional references, Formal correspondence, With other contact information
Abbreviations: Do not use abbreviations in addresses in running text, formal correspondence, and invitations. Avoid using abbreviations in mailings unless space is limited. When using abbreviations, abbreviate only the following: Ave., Blvd., St. For others, always spell out (Alley, Drive, Road, Terrace, Parkway, Lane, etc.).
Spell out and capitalize streets when used in text without a building number. The building is on Q Street. When referring to two or more streets, lowercase and spell out. P and Q streets.
For units within buildings, use the abbreviations Ste. for suite, Apt. for apartment, Fl. for floor, spell out Unit, or use the number symbol (#), in accordance with the addressee’s preference. Do not use the number symbol (#) with another denotation. 100 K Street, #6. 428 Main Street, Unit A.
Directional references: Abbreviate compass points used to denote direction in a numbered address: 1530 W. Seventeenth St. Do not abbreviate if used without a building number. Santa Ana College is on West Seventeenth Street. When used after the street to show a quadrant of the city, abbreviate the direction and use periods between letters. Do not use a comma between the street address and the directional abbreviation. 600 K Street N.W.
Formal correspondence: Spell out all abbreviations in formal correspondence.
With other contact information: Addresses, when used with other contact information, should be set off from running text and ordered as follows:-Mailing address-Telephone numbers, noted with T:-Email address, noted with E:-Website URL
